Sister Claire Derbsyhire leads a team of nurses as they prepare to prone a patient with severe respiratory failure from COVID-19 lung disease. Proning was a recognised treatment for the sickest patients with respiratory failure before the pandemic but became a mainstay of the care of ventilated patients in ICU with COVID-19. It is used in an attempt to improve the amount of oxygen being taken up by the patient's lungs and to minimise damage to the lungs from the ventilator.
